| Castle Oaks is approximately 2000 acres
of undeveloped mountainous land northeast of Castle Rock, Colorado. The
challenge of the project is to maintain a growing TerraCentra™ database
in order to perform the planning |and engineering necessary throughout
the different phases of developing the Castle Oaks property. Approximately
500 acres of the 2000 acres will be platted, while the remaining area
including the 500 acres is undergoing a revised sketch plan. The project
area has varying topography, unique geology, and developed riparian areas.
There is a diverse wildlife population and a unique history to the site.
The Civilian Conservation Corps had a camp that included most of this
property in the 1930s. The Corps created numerous earth dams along drainages
in Castle Oaks in order to decrease the erosive tendencies of the high
prairie slopes found on this site. Many of these dams are still functioning
today.
