The Practical Application Of Theory
GIS and GPS technologies are intrinsic to all of the work we do at The TSR Group. Theory is important because it teaches the user how the technology works, and explains why it behaves the way it does. Application is important because it provides a road map for the user to get from A to B using the best available tools. The TSR Group knows the theory behind the technology and the application of the theory.
Our understanding of GIS and GPS technologies has been earned through years of practical experience. We understand how essential it is to know both theory and practice and we pass that knowledge on to all of our students.
GIS Introduction to ArcView
The TSR Group currently employs two instructors authorized by ESRI to teach ArcView, the most widely used desktop GIS on the market today. This is a two-day class including an instruction book and certification of completion for every student.
The class alternates between blackboard instruction and hands-on training.
We tailor our instruction to the student groups professional background to ensure the training will return to and benefit your offices and projects. By the end of this class, students should understand the basics of GIS and be able to perform rudimentary data analysis and map-making in ArcView.
Cost: $395.00 per student
GPS
Introduction to GPS
Over the past few years using GPS has become the standard for field data collection. The TSR Group owns three Trimble sub-meter mapping grade GPS units. In addition, we have purchased a satellite subscription that allows us to obtain real-time differential data correction. This is very important when attempting to accurately navigate or interactively design on-the-fly.Data is captured using either a standard handheld data logger, or the more sophisticated Aspen computer. The Aspen unit allows the user to download background data (aerials, design files, etc.) and use them to navigate or design against within one meter of the actual ground location.
Cost: $995.00 for up to 10 students.$195.00 per student thereafter.
Training Locations
Our goal is to make the classes as informative and convenient as possible. With that in mind we are very flexible with our training locations. We can host small classes at our offices in Denver, or teach at your site.We also have access to a well-equipped computer-training center in downtown Denver that can accommodate up to 20 people.
Custom instruction is also available based on your specific GIS, GPS, or computer programming needs.Price quotes for this type of instruction are available upon request.
